API-U Qualified Rigger

Course Description

The target group for API Approved Qualified Rigger training is personnel who are required by their employer to have training in the safe use of slings and rigging hardware.

Why choose this course?

Students will be given a written examination which will allow them to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding.

The examination will pass mark of 70%.

Student practical performance will be evaluated by direct observation during a minimum of one exercise; exercises will include pre-lift rigging inspection, rigging hitches, hand signals.

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will be awarded with a API Approved Certificate, valid for 4 years.

The optimum ‘contact time’ for this training programme is seen as 16 hours over 2 consecutive days.

  • There are no pre-requisites for this training course.

  • Duration
  • Training contains physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who participate in such training must

    be medically fit and capable of participating fully. Delegates must either:

    1. Possess a valid offshore medical certificate; or

    2. Possess an Operator approved medical certificate; or

    3. Complete a GSS medical screening form prior to attendance

    In accordance with section API RP 2D 8.1.4, students should have no history of a disabling medical condition.

  • The aim and objectives of the Qualified Rigger training is to provide the knowledge about slings and rigging hardware, and provide students with the ability to demonstrate a satisfactory skill level to be considered qualified in accordance with API recommneded practice 2D.
